So after 21 years, 6 Fa Cups, 3 premier leagues, 5 Charity Shields and an unbeaten season is this really the end for Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. If you’ve been watching Arsenal Fan TV recently you would certainly think it should be. Almost everyone seems to agree that Wenger’s time has run its course Arsenal and he should gracefully bow out at the end of the season. However, Wenger is yet to reveal his plans for next season and the Board are yet to comment on his future. It seems Wenger will not be sacked and he may be too stubborn to stand down. It’s clear he still believes he can win a title with this group of players, but unfortunately he now appears to be the only one. His loyalty and faith in this team is admirable, almost to a fault and its clear the squad needs an overhaul. The club has become stale and the fans have become restless. They’ve been overtaken by Tottenham who have a young vibrant manager and squad who are well organized. It’s not just a question of spending money in the summer because we did that last year and so far the signings haven’t produced. We’ve lost our identity as a club and even our usual flowing football has been lacking in recent months. The real issue for supporters is that we are seeing the same problems year after year and Wenger doesn’t seem able to fix the problems. He talks about the mental strength of this team but it never seems evident on the big occasion, like a Champions league Last 16 for instance. I respect Wenger hugely for what he’s done but he is beginning to tarnish his image at the club with his lack of clarity over his position. Its clearly time to step down, I just hope its sooner rather than later for his sake.
